Things Will Change, Expect It.

Things change along the way.

Often times, when you set out on a new journey, things look great. Excitement is in the air. The sky is clear and the sun is warming your face. You feel great. You feel like you can conquor the world. You feel the energy and you give a fist pump, YES, Let’s Do This. You know the feeling, right?

And so the journey begins. You are off and running and the momentum is awesome. “This is what it’s all about”, you’re thinking to yourself. On you go, and things are running right along. No major issues and no surprises. Feeling pretty good you check navigation and yep, right on track. This is how I was expecting things to go.

I know what you’re thinking. “Wait, this is too easy.” And you are right. At some point, maybe sooner, maybe later, things get rough. Stuff goes wrong. The landscape changes. Maybe it’s all at once like a major shock to the system like an earthquake, or maybe it’s gradual like a pot of water on the stove. But you look around and think, “oh this is not what I signed up for”.

Listen, any time you feel called to do something important, big or small, this is how the journey goes. You’ve heard a million stories of someone who became successful at something. Wether it be sports, a business, a ministry, an adventure, it doesn’t matter. There will be adversity. There will be challenges and likely some major ones. The landscape is going to change. Just count on it so you won’t be so surprised. It’s going to happen. And when it does it’s going to make you second guess your decision. That’s natural. Brace yourself for it.

Now, the question is, what will you do in the face of that difficulty? What will you do with those thoughts of self doubt and second guessing? Will you turn back? Will you fold up shop?

Remember this. Things will change. It will get hard. You will likely have some scars from it. Chances are it will get worse before it gets better. But chances are much greater that you WILL make it. But, if you turn back, you’ve heard it said before, you will NEVER know what could have been. And you WON’T make it.

So, when it gets tough, buckle down. Dig deep, and push through. Pray for the strength to endure and go the distance. You CAN do this. You are a winner. You will be victorious. Chin up and take a deep breath. You got this.
