“Personal development is the belief that you are worth the effort, time, and energy needed to develop yourself.”—DENIS WAITLEY
Chances are, you have either the training, education, talent, or a combination of these to succeed. Denzel Washington asks a graduating class of University of Pennsylvania, “but do you have the guts to fail?”
First you have to realize that you are not on this earth by accident, you are here to have an impact on the people around you. Your unique design and experiences have equipped you to be valuable and the more you invest in your life and growth, the more value you bring to the world around you.
Second, you have to work up the nerve to try. Have the guts to try and miss. Michael Jordan shot roughly 50%. Arguably the greatest basketball player ever, and he missed half the time. In fact he missed twice as many 3 point shots as he made. A little over 500 3-pointers which means he missed over 1000, yes one thousand 3-point shots. Most have heard that Edison failed about 1000 before success with the light bulb.
Failing is part of growing, as long as you keep trying. Rocky said, “it’s not how hard you get hit. It’s how hard you get hit and keep moving forward….. That’s how winning is done”.
